Request a place at a resource base or special school

If your child is going through the EHC needs assessment process, you can choose a particular school when the draft EHCP is issued.

It can help to visit the schools that you feel might meet your child’s needs and to talk to the headteachers and other staff members.

If your child already has an EHCP and is attending a mainstream school, speak to your child’s SENCO about the support they are getting.

If you feel that the current school is not meeting your child’s needs, you can request to change to a different school as part of their EHCP annual review.
