Assessments explained
Needs assessment
A needs assessment is meant to find out if you need any support in daily life such as getting dressed, taking care of personal hygiene, or preparing and cooking meals. You'll be asked about your well-being so that we can think about the kind of support you might need.
For a full breakdown of the process and how to arrange an assessment, see our request a needs assessment page.
Carer’s assessment
If you feel you need support as a carer, we can discuss your support needs with you during a conversation we call a Carer’s Assessment. This is an opportunity for you to talk about the impact of your caring role on your well-being and your life, and what kind of support you may need.
If you’d like to arrange a carer’s assessment, details on who to contact can be found on the carer’s assessment page.
Financial assessment
If you qualify for support, we will assess your situation to see whether you have enough money to pay towards it. How much you'll need to pay depends on your income, expenses, and whether you receive care in your home or as a resident in a care home.
For further information, please visit our financial assessment page.
Assessment for a grant to adapt your home
If you are disabled and need to make changes to your home, such as building ramps or installing stairlifts, you could be eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant.
See our adapting your home page for details about the eligibility criteria for this grant and how to apply.
