Appeal a social care decision
What is an appeal
An appeal is a request for a review of a decision taken by social care officers. It's one way to deal with concerns or complaints you might have. We always aim to give you the best service and sort problems quickly. But sometimes you might not be happy, our appeals process lets you ask us to review your situation again. Our appeals process lets you ask us to consider the decision again.
You can appeal a decision if you have had an:
- adult social care assessment
- financial assessment for care
Someone else can appeal for you
Appeals can be made on your behalf by:
- anyone you have given your consent to do so, for example, a relative, a carer, or advocate
- your recognised representative who has Power of Attorney
What you can appeal about
- The decision by the council as to your eligibility to receive funded social care support.
- What needs the council should meet.
- If the council has taken sufficient account of the information you provided.
- The council’s assessment of your needs.
- How your needs are met in your support plan
- The amount of money allocated to you in your personal budget to meet your needs.
Financial Assessment appeals related to charges for your care will go to our Financial Assessment and Payments Team.
Other types of concerns
If you wish to raise another issue, for example if you were upset by the conduct of a member of staff or view the way in which the process was followed to be unfair, you have the right to make a complaint under Wokingham Borough Council’s complaints procedure.
