What you can use direct payments for

The direct payment is to buy goods and services that support you to achieve the outcomes in your carer's support plan. Examples of what a carers budget might be used for:

  • attend a leisure activity such as an exercise class, spa day, going to a concert, cinema or theatre
  • gym membership
  • enrolling on a adult education course or class
  • hiring a gardener or cleaner
  • transport or accommodation costs to visit friends or relatives
  • driving lessons
  • equipment or goods
