South Wokingham Distributor Road
A new South Wokingham Distributor Road will be built as part of the South Wokingham major development, to create access for the new homes and minimise the impact of the increase in traffic on nearby residential roads.
We recently secured £29.6 million in funding from Homes England to ensure the project goes ahead. Enabling works are due to start this autumn, with construction taking place over the next 3 years.
The first 2 phases, which are William Heelas Way and the Eastern Gateway, have already been built. These run from London Road, near Coppid Beech roundabout, and over the railway line to form a new connection and roundabout on Waterloo Road.
The third and fourth phases, known as the central section and Eastern Gateway, will pick up from Waterloo Road and continue to new junctions at Easthampstead Road and Finchampstead Road, connecting to the existing Tesco roundabout.
See the Major New Roads map and the Major New Roads page for more information.
