How to seek help
If you suspect that you, or someone you know if experiencing domestic abuse, it is crucial to seek help and support. You can:
- Talk to someone you trust such as a friend, family member, teacher or another trusted adult. It is important to have a support network during difficult times.
- Contact a domestic abuse service for help. In Wokingham we have the Domestic Abuse Support Service which is run by Cranstoun and they help people who are experiencing abuse within their own relationship as well as children and young people where there has been domestic abuse in their home. The phone number is 0118 402 1921 and you can call them in confidence. You can also phone Childline on 0800 1111.
- Create a safety plan so that if you are in an abusive situation you know where you can go if things escalate and you need to get somewhere safe and call the police on 999. It can be helpful to ask your trusted adult or the domestic abuse service to create a safety plan with you.

There is lots of help for if you are worried that your behaviour sounds similar to some of the information above and that it is having a detrimental impact on another person.
