Young carers
A young carer is defined as a person under 18, who provides or intends to provide care for someone with a disability or long-term illness. “Caring” can include tasks such as washing, dressing, preparing meals, housework, or assisting in the care of a sibling. It might include practical, physical, and/or emotional support for a parent, family member, or friend, not necessarily residing in the same household.
You might not realise that you are a carer, as these responsibilities may seem like a normal part of everyday life.
Information about available support in the borough is provided on the following pages.
