Caring for someone with dementia

The Dementia Care Advisory Service provides advice and support to people diagnosed with dementia, their carers, families and friends. 

The Dementia Care Advisory Service for Younger People offers support to individuals affected by Young Onset Dementia, their carers, family and friends.

Care in a person's home

Home care services provide help for someone to live at home as independently as possible.

Home carers can help with essential tasks including:

  • Getting in and out of bed
  • Bathing
  • Personal care
  • Dressing
  • Meal and drink preparation
  • Assistance with medication
  • Attending appointments

Help with money

If you are a parent caring for a disabled child

If you are a parent or guardian who looks after a child with disabilities, a long-term health condition, or learning difficulties, you may be entitled to support from one of our social care teams.

Information, advice and guidance

The Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have created a handbook for carers which gives practical information and financial, and emotional support available to carers from a range of local and national organisations.
