Surface deterioration type one
Regular potholes
This pothole type is most common and is a result of where water has entered cracks in the road/footway surface and, over time, weakened its foundation. It will require inspection and a possible repair.

Surface deterioration type two
Edge deterioration
This is edge deterioration and is likely to fall below our investigatory levels for repair.

Surface deterioration type three
Surface course deterioration
This is where the layer of the road or footway surface has deteriorated due to wear and tear and is likely to fall below our investigatory levels for repair.

Surface deterioration type four
Delamination
This type of surface damage on a road or footway is called delamination and is caused by the failure of the road/footway surface layer to bond with the layer beneath.

Surface deterioration type five
Deep pothole
Deep potholes can be potentially quite serious and require an urgent inspection and repair.
An urgent issue is defined as something that is very likely to present an imminent threat to life or serious injury or serious damage to property. We aim to investigate urgent issues within 24 hours.

Surface deterioration type six
Trench failure
This is a trench failure caused by an unsatisfactory reinstatement often due to a utility (water, gas, electricity) excavation. It will require inspection and a possible repair.
