Celebrations are taking place today after GCSE students across the borough have collected their results, with an incredible 77.5 per cent achieving grades 9 to 4 in English and Maths.

Teachers have been on hand in schools to celebrate the Year 11’s achievements and offer information, guidance and advice on next steps and support for any alternative education and skills routes to success for young people.

Wishing you luck for the future

Cllr Prue Bray, executive member for children’s services, said: “After months of studying and hard work, I want to congratulate students collecting their GCSE results today, what an amazing achievement.

“With the support of parents, carers, friends, wider family networks and of course schools once again our young people have achieved fantastic results, both for themselves and beating national averages.

“There are lots of choices for what to do next, including A levels, T levels, apprenticeships, BTECs and other training options.  You can find information on support and next steps on the children, families and young people section on our website.

“Whatever you choose to do next, I wish you lots of luck.”
