South of the M4 major development

In Shinfield Parish, the villages of Shinfield, Spencers Wood, and Three Mile Cross are being extended to form a major development area.

The development site, as originally envisioned, is largely complete. The following are either built or at an advanced stage:

• About 3,000 new homes
• A district centre with an improved community centre (completed) and new Lidl supermarket (under construction)
• A neighbourhood centre
• A new primary school at Alder Grove and another set to follow at Spencers Wood
• New playing fields and open spaces
• New roads including a relief road with a bridge over the M4
• Significant employment space at Thames Valley Science Park with occupants including Shinfield Studios, the British Museum and the Natural History Museum
