Learn about the new council tax messaging service

We are now using a messaging service to contact our customers, where they have fallen behind with their instalments.  Depending on the details we hold for you, we may contact you via:

  • SMS Text Messaging
  • Email
  • Automated Voice Messaging

We will do this prior to taking any further recovery action to attempt to collect any overdue payments and help to prevent customers from paying additional costs.

Whilst this is used to prevent customers from falling further behind with their payments, it should not be relied upon as a prompt to pay.

It is your responsibility to pay the instalments that are shown on your Council Tax bill, failure to do so may result in recovery action being taken.

How to know if the message is genuine

SMS Text

Messages will be addressed to you personally.  To access the full message, you must click on the link to confirm it is you. You will be directed to:

revsms.wokingham.gov.uk

Once you have verified your account, you will then be shown information concerning your outstanding balance and details of how you can pay this.

Email 

An email will be addressed to you personally, and will be from the email address:

info@revemail.wokingham.gov.uk

You will be shown information concerning your outstanding balance and details of how you can pay this.

Automated Voice Message

The pre-recorded message will first ensure that we have contacted the correct person. Once verified, the message will inform you of your payment options and how to contact us.
