Support is available for you, your child and young people.

Autism Spectrum Service for Information, Support and Training (ASSIST) 

Our ASSIST team works with families and providers to help children and young people with autism get the support they need to be the best they can be.

They provide advice, workshops and targeted support to meet your child and your family’s needs.

Berkshire West Autism and ADHD Support Service

This service provides advice, workshops and courses for children and young people aged up to 25 who have autism or ADHD, or who are waiting for assessment. It also provides a free helpline for parents and carers.

The service is a partnership between two local organisations:

  • Autism Berkshire
  • Parenting Special Children

Centre for Autism at the University of Reading

The Centre for Autism at the University of Reading provides research and training about autism.

Social Communication intervention for pre-schoolers (SCIP)

If your child is aged between 2 and 5 years old and has a diagnosis or autism or is waiting for assessment, you can access this free training. It focuses on developing children’s communication and language skills.

Take part in research

You can take part in research projects at the Centre for Autism if:

  • you have a child or young person with autism aged 18 and under
  • you are a young person with autism aged 18 and over

More local support and activities

ASD Family Help offers activities for children and young people with autism as well as other additional needs. They also offer drop ins for parents and carers.

Promise Inclusion provides activities, support and advice to people with autism and learning disabilities and their families.

For young people aged 18 and over, AutAngel is a community group run by autistic people. They provide training, courses, online and in-person groups for people with autism
