Getting started with your direct payment

Process for setting up your direct payment

The process for receiving a direct payment will begin when:

  • You have completed a needs assessment.
  • We have determined that you require a package of care.
  • You have informed adult social care you wish to receive your personal budget through a direct payment.
  • Your agreed care and support plan has been written and specifies how you want to use your direct payment.

Your social care professional will notify the Direct Payment team of your request. The team will send you two copies of your Direct Payment Agreement. Before you can receive your direct payment, you must:

  • read and agree with the terms and conditions
  • sign both copies of the agreement
  • keep one copy for yourself
  • return the other copy to the Direct Payment team using the prepaid envelope provided.

Once signed documents are received your funds will be available in approximately 5 to 7 days.

Next steps

You will now need to arrange the care and support outlined in your plan, which will be managed through a Direct Payment.

If you don't have a copy of your care and support plan, your social care professional can provide you with one.
