Choosing a homecare agency

You may choose to hire a homecare agency rather than employing a carer yourself. Homecare agencies are required to be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which monitor, access and rate care providers. During the CQC inspections, care providers are assessed on whether they are:

• safe
• effective
• caring
• responsive
• well-Led

The CQC website has further information on how they inspect and regulate different care services. You can also look at the inspection report of the organisation you are interested in hiring.
