We are seeking to appoint an excellent practitioner to join our successful Science Department as a part time Teacher of Science.Required for September 2023, January 2024 or April 2024

Under the new measures our students at Key Stage 4 have made very good progress. We are delighted that the vast majority of our students stay on to our Sixth Form and that over 95% of our leavers gain a place at University or choose to enter apprenticeships and employment. For Science 70% of students achieved at least two 9-4 grades at GCSE level.We are looking for a colleague who is an excellent classroom practitioner and has the passion to build the profile of Science within the school. We have motivated and committed A level students, many of whom choose to continue to study Science at University and we would like to continue to develop this enthusiasm further down the school. The department consists of 12 experienced Science teachers and 3 experienced Science technicians. If appointed, you would join a strong and friendly team of professionals who continually strive for excellence and improve their practice through a range of CPD activities, including professional dialogue and discussion of evidence based pedagogy. The successful applicant will be required to teach KS3 and KS4 with the possibility of teaching KS5 in the future.Science is taught in 10 themes in a spiral curriculum, revisiting ideas and topics throughout students time at school. At KS4 we offer a broad range of qualifications from Separate Science GCSEs, Combined Science GCSE and Entry Level Science. At KS5, as well as teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Level, we run a Level 3 BTEC course in Applied Human Biology.Our students follow an academic core curriculum throughout Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This includes the study of History, Geography and a Language as well as English, Maths and Science. But our students also have the opportunity to do a range of practical and vocational subjects including a wide range of creative and performing arts, physical education and other humanities like Business studies, Psychology and Economics.Outside the formal curriculum we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs. Our students travel the world recent trips have been to China, Poland, Berlin, Skiing in Utah, and Barcelona, along with many opportunities to attend fieldwork, theatres and museums more locally. Our students are also very active in the community working alongside local and overseas charities to raise money for good causes.If you feel your values and ethos align with ours, this is an exciting opportunity for you!
