How large unwanted items collection service works

We can collect large unwanted items that are not easily recycled or can be disposed of by you.

  • Collections take place on Tuesday or Wednesday.
  • You can select your own collection date up to 8 weeks in advance.
  • You can book as many collections as you like in a year.
  • Leave the items clearly outside the front of your property, the night before your collection.
  • Items will be collected on your requested day by 4pm.
  • We do not collect from inside properties, rear gardens, garages and behind locked gates.

Cost

  • A charge of £66.00 applies for a collection of up to 5 items.

Large items we can collect

  • Carpets  (rolled and no longer than 6ft)
  • Garden furniture chairs and tables
  • Household furniture, bed bases, mattresses, sofas, wardrobes, tables, chairs
  • Washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher
  • Televisions and computer monitors
  • Toys, sandpits and small trampolines
  • Fridges, freezers and fridge freezers (not commercial)

Large items we can't collect

  • Builders rubble
  • Garage doors
  • Sheds, fences or gates
  • Garden waste
  • Garage doors
  • Garden structures including swings, climbing frames etc.
  • DIY waste (Bathroom suites, doors, window frames, worktops, radiators), construction waste.
  • Built in furniture (kitchen units, wardrobes etc)
  • Hazardous waste including gas bottles.

Changes to the way we collect furniture with soft padded covering

New rules from the government mean that upholstered items must now be picked up separately from other large items. Sofas, armchairs, cushions, beanbags, home office chairs, footstalls, upholstered headboards, and bed bases must be picked up separately. The new rules do not need mattresses to be picked up separately.

These new rules could lead to it taking longer to book a large item collection slot.
