Western Gateway
Current project status
The scheme involves building a larger roundabout at the junction of Molly Millars Lane and Finchampstead Road, while improving pedestrian and cycle routes so that everyone benefits.
It will support the construction of the Central Section of the South Wokingham Distributor Road, following the completion of William Heelas Way and Eastern Gateway some years ago.
It has passed the detailed design stage and discharge of planning conditions. Enabling works are set to start in Spring 2025, with main works set to begin in Summer 2025.
A full timeline for these works will be published well before any works start.
Three properties on Finchampstead Road, which we own, have been demolished in readiness for the works to begin.
Planning application
Planning permission for the scheme was granted in May 2021.
Public events were held in February 2020 before a planning application was submitted. All feedback was summarised and submitted as part of the planning application.
