Council launches formal consultation on draft Council Plan 2025
The plan has been drafted in line with the borough’s Communities Vision to reflect the aspirations of residents
Residents are being invited to have their say on Wokingham Borough Council’s priorities for the years ahead.
A consultation on the draft Council Plan will run for four weeks from today (Monday 3 February) to Monday 3 March.
The plan sets out the authority’s medium-term goals and has been drafted in line with the borough’s Communities Vision 2035, which was produced by partners to reflect the aspirations of those living in the borough.
Cllr Stephen Conway, leader of the council, said: “We need your insights and feedback to ensure our priorities align with your needs. This is your opportunity to shape the future of Wokingham Borough and contribute to the realisation of the Communities Vision.
“It is important that as many people as possible give their views on the Council Plan, as it will set the authority’s priorities in the future. It has been drafted to link closely with the Communities Vision, which was produced by a steering group of representatives from various sectors of the borough after significant consultation.
“By aligning the Council Plan with the long-term ambitions of the Communities Vision, we ensure that our priorities and actions reflect the aspirations and needs of our residents.”
Key themes and priorities
The Council Plan is built around four key themes: Fair, Green, Safe and Connected. These themes emerged from extensive public engagement and are designed to address the most pressing needs of our community:
- Fair: Ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all residents
- Green: Promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship
- Safe: Enhancing public safety and creating secure neighbourhoods
- Connected: Improving infrastructure and fostering community connectivity
Have your say
The council is calling on residents to provide their feedback on the draft Council Plan during the consultation period. Resident input is crucial in shaping the plan and ensuring it addresses the priorities that matter most to the community.
Cllr Stephen Conway added: “The Council Plan is a reflection of our community’s vision for the future.”
How to take part
Residents can review the draft Council Plan and submit their feedback by visiting the council’s Engage Wokingham Borough platform and completing the online survey.
The feedback collected will be analysed and used to refine the Council Plan, ensuring it truly reflects the needs and aspirations of our community.
