We are currently making arrangements for the count for the general election taking place on Thursday 4 July.

There are now two constituencies in Wokingham Borough, which are administered by the borough council:

  • Earley and Woodley
  • Wokingham

If you are a member of the media and wish to express an interest in attending the general election count for the Wokingham constituency and the Earley and Woodley constituency on Thursday 4 July 2024, please email cem@wokingham.gov.uk with the following details:

  • Names of those wishing to attend the count
  • Organisation/publication/broadcaster
  • Phone number(s)
  • Email(s)
  • Category – TV Broadcast/radio broadcast/print and or online/photographer
  • Do you need broadcast vehicle access? If so, please provide details
  • Do you need to recce the venue prior to election night? If so, you will be required to complete this with the Communications, Engagement and Marketing Team by no later than Wednesday 19 June

Please also provide a copy of your current NUJ card/press authority card for everyone attending the count.

Details of the count:

  • Loddon Valley Leisure Centre, Rushey Way, Lower Earley, RG6 4GD
  • Thursday 4 July from 10pm. Verification of ballot boxes will take place from 10pm and the count for both constituencies will start following the completion of verification.

Accreditation is open from: Monday 3 June to Wednesday 26 June at 11.59pm. No accreditation will be given after this date and time.

Please note that emailing the details to CEM Team does not guarantee accreditation at the count due to limited capacity. We will provide details of how to access the count after Wednesday 26 June.

Individuals must be registered to enter the count, if you are not accredited, you will not be given access.

Other things to note:

  • Due to very limited space, the media centre will be located on the balcony/mezzanine at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre
  • The declaration for each constituency will take place in one of the dance studios, away from the main counting hall. The declaration will be made (by microphone) by the Acting Returning Officer Andrew Moulton
  • Security will be in place at the count and all bags will be searched on arrival
  • There is a separate accreditation process for candidates and agents
