Partnership with Complete Childcare brings Balance Bike sessions to Finchampstead

Wokingham Borough Council is pleased to announce it’s working in partnership with Complete Childcare, a local nursery company, on an initiative in Finchampstead.

Complete Childcare will be sponsoring the Finchampstead Balance Bike Club, run by My Journey Wokingham, for the next 12 months.

This is a free club for children aged two to four-years-old where they can learn, practice, and have fun balancing and gliding on two wheels.

The sessions are held every Wednesday between 2.15pm and 3pm, at the FBC Centre in Finchampstead. Sessions are great for youngsters preparing to ride a bike when they are old enough.  

Best for borough, best for business

The borough council wants the best for its residents and businesses in the borough. The income it gets from sponsorship allows it to enhance the services it already provides to 177,000 residents.

It means that it doesn’t have to scale back on some of the initiatives it offers despite the financial pressures it is currently facing. 

Complete Childcare is a well-established group of 16 day nurseries and pre-schools based in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

With more than half of its settings in Wokingham Borough, the group has a strong local presence and is proud of its community ties such as participation in local fayres and good relationships with schools. 

The nurseries offer an array of engaging activities for children following the early years foundation stage framework, with an added focus on outdoor learning, Boogie Mites and French.

Seeking funding to provide great facilities

Cllr Imogen Shepherd-Dubey, executive member for finance, said “As a council it’s great to be able to offer sponsorship opportunities to local businesses which align with their mission, ambitions and goals.

"This sponsorship is also a reflection of our commitment to seek other funding opportunities so that we can continue to provide great services, facilities and activities for our residents.

"We remain committed to making Wokingham Borough a great place to live, learn, work and grow and a great place to do business.

“I am pleased we are working in partnership with Complete Childcare. This is a great session for children to learn to balance on a bike first and then learn to glide with their feet up.

"Once they have mastered these skills they can make an easier transition to riding a bike with pedals”

The Balance Bike Club in Finchampstead offers a great chance for young children to continue improving their gross motor skills and build their confidence during their very important early years of childhood.”
