Our foster carers are amazing. And heres the chance to join them and make a lasting difference to the life of a child or young person. We are always looking for new or experienced foster carers for local children who need caring families living in or close to Wokingham Borough Council. Becoming a foster carer is open to you, whatever your ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. You will have flexible working hours or full time availability and live in Wokingham Borough or within 20 miles. To be a foster carer with us you need patience, a good sense of humour and energy to look after a child. You must be over 21 with life experience and good communication skills. As a foster carer you will receive full training, 24 hour support and a generous payment package, to care for a child who is in need of a home. What we can offer you Excellent training including a specialist 'therapeutic parenting' programme One to one and out of hours support Local support groups and family activities Generous and competitive allowances Council Tax exemption Fees increase with experience often resulting in the equivalent of a reasonable salary which could provide the opportunity for a complete change of career. Fees are paid per week for each child placed with you. Levels are based on experience: Level 1: 140 Level 2 : 245 Level 3 : 322 For example, an experienced foster carer at Level 2 who cares for 2 children all year can earn over 25,000 per year (NB Foster carers can look after a maximum of 3 children).
