With reference to the Local government transparency code 2015 I am hereby requesting the following information concerning the Waste Contract, its amendment, annexes and related policies:

1. Title of agreement and scope of work:
Waste & Recycling Service
The weekly collection of refuse, recycling and food waste from approximately 75,000 properties
The provision of an opt in chargeable green waste collection service
A weekly clinical waste collection service
The collection of bulky household items.
Plus all activities associated with the provision of these services such as:
The storage and delivery of waste containers.

3. Detailed description of the services being provided
• A weekly waste collection from the curtilage
• A weekly recycling collection from the kerbside
• A weekly clinical waste collection from an appropriate place within the curtilage of the said property
• A fortnightly opt in green waste service from 240 litre wheelie bins or 75 litre compostable sacks
• An assisted service for all of the above for the elderly or infirm
• A weekly collection from approximately 360 x 1100 bulk bins from communal properties
• A weekly waste and recycling (including green waste) service on the same day for approximately 400 limited access properties
• The supply and delivery of blue sacks per annum to the front door of each property
• Separate collection of bulky waste items

5. Sum to be paid over the length of the contract and annual budgets:
£61.6 m

6. Start, end and review dates
• Start date: 01/04/2012
• Review date: 31/03/2019
• End date: 31/03/2026

7. Audit procedures and historic evidences
Monthly KPI’s provided by the contractor include:
• Missed collections per 100,000 collections
• Tonnages of wastes collected per month by waste type
• Crew inspections carried out per month
• Health & safety performance to include accidents/incidents, near misses and any safety concerns
• Stock control of waste containers.
• Number of bulky waste collections undertaken.
The service regularly undertakes audit inspections each month on crews, to observe safe working practices, and inspect loads deposited at the disposal sites to ensure they are collecting the wastes in line with the contract specification.
The service monitors missed collection reports and enquiries and highlights any repeat issues with the contractor for resolution.
Depot health safety inspections and fire risk assessments. Review of training records and vehicle compliance 6 weekly.
