I am submitting a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following data related to children in temporary accommodation. I would like to know the following:
1. How many children are currently in temporary accommodation as of the 1st of November 2024?
76
2. The breakdown of these children in educational categories:
a) How many are in primary education: 37 children are of primary school age
b) How many are in secondary education: 24 children are of secondary school age
c) How many are registered as being 15 years of age: 6
3. For children currently on your homeless waiting lists:
a) How many are known to have health conditions?
b) How many are registered as disabled?
We do not have a ‘homeless waiting list’ but a social housing register which homeless households and other households who have a housing need are able to join. We do not specifically ask if children ‘are registered as disabled’ as part of the application form to join the housing register so we are unable to answer this question. To find out how many children are on our social housing register who may have a health condition we would need to manually check each application which would exceed over 18 hours section 12 (as 1202 applications and approximately 10 minutes per application).
4. Spending on temporary accommodation from 1st November 2023 to 1st November 2024: £699,343.86
a) Breakdown of spending on different types of accommodation (e.g., hotels or B&Bs, private landlords, council-owned properties).
B&Bs, Guest Houses and Hotels: £73,465.92
Nightly let accommodation: £350,877.94
Private sector lease temporary accommodation: £275,000
5. The number of tenant complaints regarding temporary accommodation during this period (1st November 2023 - 1st November 2024).
We have had 1 Stage 1 Complaint from a Temporary accommodation property in the time frame specified.
