We write to request the following information under the FOIA in relation to assessments of, and the provision of support to, families with No Recourse to Public Funds (“NRPF”) seeking access to support under section 17 of the Children Act 1989. Do you have any guidance or policy documents or other such written material in respect of undertaking assessments and providing support pursuant to section 17 of the Children Act 1989 to families with no recourse to public funds (including documents specific to this issue, or of more general application but covering this issue)?
Our Children’s Serviced Procedure Manual has a chapter on Families with No Recourse to Public Funds. Section 5 of this chapter provides guidance on the approach that should be taken, including when assessing need under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989.

We don’t collect this info so can only give the total amount of S17 assessments completed not those that are related to NRPF

4 families

4 families

One was undocumented and 3 had restrictions on their leave to remain.

We are not able to report on this
