I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request information held by your council on school lockdown procedures, which can also be known as “sheltering in place” procedures. These are activated following an external or internal incident which has the potential to pose a threat to the safety of staff and pupils. Specifically, I would like to be sent:
1. A table breaking down all the times schools have gone into lockdown between January 1, 2018, to the most recently recorded date. I would like the table to give the name of the school, its URN, the name of its academy trust where applicable, the date on which it went into lockdown, the exact reason why the school went into lockdown and a separate column categorising the reason for the lockdown (e.g. civil disturbance, an intruder on the site, air pollution, fire nearby, a dangerous dog or malicious communications).
If any of the information is already in the public domain, please can you direct me to it, with page references and URLs if necessary.
Wokingham Borough Council have had only one incident report to us where a school site activated their lockdown procedures, due to a potential threat to the safety of staff and pupils since January 1, 2018. However, it was a false alarm.
We are unable to provide further detailed information as has been requested, to protect the safety, security and reputation of the establishment.
