I am analysing the social implications of the digitisation of car parking.

Parking Infrastructure
1. Who is the Parking Manager at the Local Authority?
The Parking manager for Wokingham Borough Council is: Geoff.hislop@wokingham.gov.uk

2. Who is the current supplier of your Pay & Display Machines?
Our current supplier of ticket machines is Flowbird.

3. How many Pay & Display machines do you currently have?
We currently have 76 Pay & Display machines across all car parks.

4. How many Pay & Display machines accept contactless card payment?
All machines accept payment by coin or card with the exception of 2 machines that provide a free vend ticket only.

5. Who is your current supplier of your Enforcement Software (eg Chipside, Imperial, Conduent etc)?
Marston Holdings provide our enforcement system.

6. Have any decisions been made to remove any Parking machines in the next 2 years (2023-2025)?
No, Government legislation requires payment by coin in all car parks so there in no decision to remove machines.

7. Have any decisions been made to replace or upgrade any Parking machines in the next 2 years and do you know how many, if the answer is yes (2023-2025)?
No, Our Ticket machines are only 4 years old, we anticipate keeping them in place for at least 15 years.

The council do not have their own app, we use RingGo

9. Who is your current Mobile Parking Supplier/Suppliers?
Our Mobile parking app is provided by RingGo.

10. Which year did you award your current contract/s to your App supplier/s?
The contract was awarded in 2022.

11. When is your current Mobile Parking App contract due to expire?
Oct 2026.

12. Is there a convenience charge to the end user for paying by App? If so, please specify the charge.
We do not charge a convenience Fee.

Total Parking revenue for financial year 2022-2023 was £1,353,562 Net income. Includes season tickets & permits.

Annual revenue from PCN’s for the same period was £532,630.

15. What was the annual revenue from Pay & Display Machines (2022-2023)?
Annual revenue from Pay & Display machines for 2022-2023 was £1,032,875.36 Gross income.

16. What is the a) Total Coin Revenue and b) Total Card Revenue (2022-2023)?
Total revenue Split by Coin was £359,272.65 and card payments £673,602.71 Gross income.

18. How many transactions were made at the Pay & Display Machines in 2022-2023?
Total Transactions at the Pay & Display machines was 911,798 transactions.

Total transactions made via Mobile app was 400,948.

For the year 2022 23 we issued 17,087 Penalty Notices.
