I am writing to make an open government request for all the information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

1. With regard to the authority's housing waiting list, how many households were removed from the list in the last full year where figures are available?
None that were ‘live’ aside those who requested it or had died and we were informed. We have introduced Housing Online and everyone on our waiting list was updated as live and to renew their application a) online and b) with a renewal of interest date of 1st March 2021, so those who would have been removed as not re-registering interest stayed on the list as it was a blanket update renewal.

The only people we would have removed would have been those who either requested removal, who were housed or who had been informed had died. We don’t have records for this.

2. Can you list the reasons given for the removal from the list?
Generally this would be:
• Applicant requested closure
• Mutual exchange
• Death
• Fraud
• Not renewing interest (‘pink’ renewal card)
• Please see Question 6 too

3. How many households were removed from the list because of death?
We have our TUO service (copied into death notifications) & no report for this but would estimate, from the past year, as being between 10-20.

4. How many households have been on the list for a) between five years and ten years b) ten years or more
a) between five years and ten years: 328
b) ten years or more: 152

This will include out of area/non priority/owner occupier/high finances and those who wish to be on the list ready for their later years/longer term housing need etc. and transfers with no housing need or long term rent arrears for example.

5. With regards to household that has been on the list the longest, how long have they been on the list?
The oldest application we have is from 04/05/1984. This gentleman has been made aware of offers, but wishes to remain where he is and is only on the list for when he can no longer reside with his landlady. This also applies to people in tied accommodation too for example, so it isn’t that they have waited this length of time per se, but how long they have been on the list.

6. Can you provide the same figures provided for questions 1. 2. and 3 for each of the last ten years or as far back as the cost limit will allow?
Systems changed in 2015 and we went online in 2020 so figures would not be retrievable. Also this is not something we report on so this data is not monitored or collected.
Reasons for removal:
• requested removal
• customer didn’t update renewal of interest
• customer didn’t respond to either 2 letters sent to them in regards to supplying new and current information when our new system was introduced (2015)
• death
• mutual exchanges
