The allocation to Wokingham borough Council is planned to be spent as follows (values are approximate):
- £218,000 will be disbursed to families with children eligible for free school meals to assist with food costs during school holiday periods (October half-term, Christmas, February half-term and Easter).
- £3,250 will support care leavers with additional food costs over Christmas.
- £304,000 will be available to households who are struggling to meet additional costs over the winter period, particularly with regard to fuel costs and keeping warm. This element of the funding will be channeled through the voluntary sector with a consortium of partner organisations and a ‘one front door’ referral process operated by Citizens Advice Wokingham. This is designed to ensure that residents have access to the full range of support available locally with the Household Support Fund being but one strand of a wider offer.
