1. For the following years please provide a breakdown for each year (or part year) for the number of handed back contracts involving residential care homes (including specialist care homes and nursing homes) and the number involving care at home (in a client's own home), as well as a breakdown by numbers for younger adults (under 65) and older adults (65 and over).
2. If providers have given reasons for handing back contracts, please provide a breakdown of the reasons cited for each year. Please provide a breakdown for each year between care homes and at home care and between older and younger adults.
2019:
• One (Wokingham) - older people residential care home – closed 2019 - Voluntary Sector provider run by elderly trustees no longer wishing to update/upgrade the service.
• One (Bracknell) – older people residential care home – closed 2019 – CQC safeguarding concerns resulted in closure.
2020:
• One (Wokingham) – Home care provider – ended contract 2020 – commercial decision.
2021:
• One (Reading) – day care - ended contract 2021- Vol sector provider unable to run sustainably.
• One (Wiltshire) – LD Residential care home – handed back contract 2021 - The service is still running. Provider informs us that they cannot run a sustainable business alongside extensive refurbishment required of the site. CQC inspection requires substantial quality improvements.
• One (Bournemouth) – Older people residential care home – closing 2021 – commercial decision.
• One (Devon) - LD residential care home - handed back contract 2021: cannot recruit enough staff to safely meet the complex needs of our client.
• One (Bracknell) – Older people residential care home- closing 2021 – elderly owners are retiring.
