Under Freedom of Information, I would be grateful if you could provide the following information:
Flashing Flooding
1. How many insurance liability claims have you received in the last three calendar years (2024, 2023, 2022) related to surface water flooding (i.e. flash flooding)? For each year, please provide the number of claims received and the number paid out, including the total cost to the council and insurer.
In 2022 the council received no liability claims related to surface water flooding (flash flooding) (i.e. claims where the volume of rainfall was alleged to have exceeded the capacity of drains and surface water sewers).
In 2023 the council received 2 such “flash flooding” claims of which one has been paid at a total cost of £7,450.
In 2024 the council received 3 “flash flooding” claims of which one has been paid at a total cost of £10,378.90.
Mental Health Absence
2. If possible, please can you share how many primary school children are currently seeking help for mental health conditions (including stress, depression, anxiety etc.)

Potholes
8. How many claims for pothole-related damage did the council receive from drivers in: 2024 (to date), 2023 and 2022 registered and number of potholes repaired
Wokingham Borough Council repaired the following numbers of potholes in 2022-24:
2022: 1378 pothole repairs
2023: 2581 pothole repairs
2024: 2332 pothole repairs to 30 Nov 2024
9. How many claims resulted in the council paying out to drivers in: 2024 (to date), 2023 and 2022
In 2022 the council received 31 pothole-related claims from drivers of which 13 have been paid at a total cost of £4,572.12.
In 2023 the council received 144 pothole-related claims from drivers of which 50 have been paid at a total cost of £13,552.56.
In 2024 the council has received 79 pothole-related claims from drivers of which 20 have been paid at a total cost of £6,104.72.
10. How much has the council paid out to drivers in: 2024 (to date), 2023 and 2022
In 2022 the council received 31 pothole-related claims from drivers of which 13 have been paid at a total cost of £4,572.12.
In 2023 the council received 144 pothole-related claims from drivers of which 50 have been paid at a total cost of £13,552.56.
In 2024 the council has received 79 pothole-related claims from drivers of which 20 have been paid at a total cost of £6,104.72.
11. If possible, can you provide the average length of time it has taken to repair potholes in 2024.
In Wokingham Borough, potholes are repaired according to different schedules based on the risk associated with the road defect. The average repair times for the different categories of pothole repair in 2024 (to 30 November) are as follows:
2 Hours - Emergency 1.70 hours
24 Hours - Urgent 32.09 hours
28 Days - Standard Response 45.00 days
12. If possible, can out provide the number of potholes that you are aware of that need repairing?
This information is provided as a snapshot at a particular date and time. On 30th December 2024 at 14:20, the number of potholes in Wokingham Borough that were known to need repairing was 40 potholes.
