I am writing regarding the council's plans and activities related to compulsory purchase orders (CPOs) and regeneration schemes. Specifically, I would like to ask the following:
1. Does the council have any plans to make a compulsory purchase order (CPO) in 2025 or 2026? If so, could you please provide details, including the location and the name of any planned CPO?
The Executive has approved the use of a 2nd CPO for the purchase of the privately owned properties in Gorse Ride. To date we have not proceeded with the 2nd CPO as all of the property purchases to date have been agreed by negotiation. There are remaining 2 properties to purchase in Gorse Ride and these are currently in conveyancing.
2. Has the council already made a compulsory purchase order in 2025? If yes, could you confirm the location and the name of the CPO?
No, we have not made a compulsory order in 2025.
3. Could you also provide information on any ongoing or proposed regeneration schemes within the borough? Please confirm the name and details of any such schemes.
Gorse Ride is the Council’s only regeneration project – as detailed above. There are no other regeneration projects in the Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP).
