See notes
Under the FOI Act please provide me with the information below.
1. What is the temperature that each pool in your local authority area aims to achieve (as of March 2025) – please provide in degrees Celsius, please be as specific as possible, and provide temperatures for different pools if applicable (eg main pool and toddler pool).
Places Leisure aim to operate Loddon Valley, Bulmershe & Wokingham LC’s - Main Pool at 28.5degrees Celsius and Teaching Pool at 29.5 degrees Celsius, in line with PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group) Guidance.
2. Has there been a change in this aimed-for temperature changed in the past 5 years? If yes, please be as specific as possible on all changes since 2020.
Any alternations that have been made to pool temperature – Pool temperatures have remained within the guidance of PWTAG
3. If yes to Q2, for each pool what is the primary reason for any changes in temperature?
Environmental sustainability – as per PWTAG guidance lowering your pool water temperature reduces both pool chemicals usage and carbon emissions.
4. If yes to Q2, was there any public consultation regarding a temperature change? If so, please share responses if possible.
No public consultation was carried out as pool temperatures remained within PWTAG guidance. (this would be dependant on any local exemptions where the temp is inputted into the contract)
