I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information. I am after information relating to the number of potholes and the cost spent on potholes under your jurisdiction. In particular, are you able to provide me with:
Wokingham Borough employs a risk-based approach to the repair of road defects. This is explained in more detail in the Wokingham Borough Highways Maintenance Management Plan (HMMP) at:

The risk-based approach to the repair of road defects is explained in Volume 02 “Highway Network Maintenance” of the HMMP.
Road defects are classified as “emergency” (2 hour response), “urgent” (24 hour response) and “standard” (28 day response). As detailed in the HMMP, Wokingham Borough Council promotes a ‘right first time’ approach to defect repair, however when this is not possible a make safe or temporary repair within the 2 hour or 24 hour response time is considered acceptable.

In Wokingham Borough, in accordance with the risk-based approach described above, minor works orders to repair road defects are not distinguished as temporary or “full” repairs. Accordingly, this information is not available. However, the average cost per pothole of all pothole repairs for the calendar years 2022 to 2024 is shown below.
