The Borough Council applied for powers to enforce moving traffic regulations at 11 sites across the borough using ANPR cameras following a business case carried out last year and public consultation.
The Borough Council's submission to the government was approved in July 2023 and the 11 sites have become 'live' for enforcement by ANPR during mid-September 2023. However, any driver caught during the first 6 months of the ANPR going 'live' will be sent a warning letter on the first offense only. Thereafter, a Penalty Charge will be issued.

1. Would you please tell me how many moving traffic regulation contraventions have occurred at the 11 sites since the cameras were installed, and how many penalty charges have been made for the same?
A total of 10,384 notices have been issued following the observation of a contravention. Of these, 4,538 are warning notices issued during the first 6 months with nothing to pay, and 5,846 are Live Penalty Notices. This data covers the period between 1st Sept 2023 to 31 Jan 2025.
