We would like information on the extent to which your local authority provides children centres or family hubs for families in your area.

For the purposes of this freedom of information request we define a children’s centre as a building which is managed by, or on behalf of, or by arrangement with the local authority to provide early childhood services (possibly in conjunction with services for families of older children) in the community.

1. How many children’s centres which solely provide support for parents of children under the age of six were in operation in Wokingham on each of the following dates:
• 31 March 2009: 1
• 31 March 2014: 6, used to be 8 up until 2013
• 31 March 2019: 6
• 31 March 2024: 6

2. How many children’s centre which provide services for parents of children from pre-birth up to the age of 18 (often referred to as “family hubs”) were in operation in Wokingham on each of the following dates:
Children’s Centres only provided services for children up to the age of 5 and therefore, could not include children above the age of 5. Same figures as above.
• 31 March 2009: 1
• 31 March 2014: 6, used to be 8 up until 2013
• 31 March 2019: 6
• 31 March 2024: 6

3. On 31 March 2024 how many children’s centres which solely provide support for parents of children under the age of six were in operation in Wokingham were operating in each of the following wards: Under the age of 5.
