1. How many headteachers have taken up counselling through the local authority in the 2023-24 academic year so far?
Most schools purchase their own Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) so this is not provided via the Council. EAPs provide access to counselling.

However, the way EAPs report on usage would not specify the job role of those contacting them and accessing support. They would use general school staff numbers and not detail whether or not an individual was a headteacher, as the services are confidential.

We would be uncomfortable reporting on some of it if we did hold information for those schools. We only have 1 PRU and 1 Special School, and have only had 1 maintained secondary school for a while, so if we were reporting that the Headteachers at any of those schools had accessed counselling, it would be possible to identify the specific individual (Section 40 exemption).

2. Can I please compare this to
a) 2022-23 academic year;
b) 2021-22 academic year;
c) 2020-21 academic year;
d) 2019-20 academic year;
e) 2018-19 academic year?
Not applicable, see above.
