1. Please may you tell us what costs are recharged to defendants for:
• Summons and
• Liability orders by your Council.
Please may you provide this for each year of the last five years. Please may you be clear if this is the calendar or accounting year.
This may be broken down as:
• Summons cost Justice – set by legislation (was £3, now 50p)
For each of the last 5 financial years 50p per individual summons document issued (for each person summonsed).

Council Tax
Financial years
• 2019/20 to 2022/23 £55.00 per summons case (for each Council Tax account summonsed).
• 2023/24 £84.00 per summons case (for each Council Tax account summonsed).
Business Rates
Financial years
• 2019/20 to 2022/23 £70.00 per summons case (for each Business Rates debt summonsed).
• 2023/24 £110.00 per summons case (for each Business Rates debt summonsed).
• Liability Order cost
Council Tax
Financial years
• 2019/20 to 2022/23 £55.00 per Liability Order case (for each Council Tax account on the Liability Order application).
• 2023/24 £46.00 per Liability Order case (for each Council Tax account on the Liability Order application).
Business Rates
Financial years
• 2019/20 to 2022/23 £70.00 per Liability Order case (for each Business Rates debt on the Liability Order application).
• 2023/24 £60.00 per Liability Order case (for each Business Rates debt on the Liability Order application).
