Credits and overpayments (£) held in closed council tax accounts

1. I am writing to request data on the total amount of credits and overpayments (£) held in CLOSED council tax accounts by the council between the tax years for 2021/22 and 2022/23. I am also requesting the total number of such accounts in the same period.
We can only provide the Value and number of accounts in credit for closed accounts as we are multi-year billing. Credits with all open accounts are carried forward and off set against the following financial year.
Number of account in credit is 13,654 with a total value of £2,776,941.58
2. I am also requesting the main reasons why residents have overpaid on their council tax during these periods.
We do not report on reason for overpayment, but would say is because liability had ended and a change in circumstances.
