Foster Care
See notes
1. How many foster carers/families do you currently need in your area?
We aim to approve ten fostering households each year so we would say ten. However, the figure may be considerably more depending on the number of UASCs expected and our increase in children needing to be fostered currently.
2. How many children/young people in your council area were in foster care in the following years?
a) 2023 – currently: 79 (30/06/23)
b) 2022: 83
c) 2021: 68
d) 2020: 68
e) 2019: 80
f) 2018: 70
Please note figures for 2018 – 2022 are published and available.
3. Would you say your council area has seen an increase in young people going into care in the past 12 months?
Yes
