What is a Citizenship Ceremony?  

The citizenship ceremony is the final step to becoming a British citizen. It formally welcomes you into your local community and also welcomes you as a British Citizen. 

Every successful applicant aged 18 and over must attend a citizenship ceremony to achieve British citizenship status and receive their certificate of naturalisation. 

We ask each new citizen to make an oath to the sovereign, that they will be a faithful citizen. They must also make a formal and public pledge, that they will be a loyal subject and observe the laws of this country. 

Ceremony options 

Group Ceremonies  

These are held each month at Wokingham Town Hall and are free of charge. Each new citizen can bring one adult guest to this ceremony. Children and babies are not able to attend with your adult guest.  

Private Ceremony  

These are held at Wokingham Register Office and are available Monday to Saturday. The ceremony can be arranged quickly and there is usually some flexibility over the date and time. The ceremony will last approximately 15 to 20 minutes and there will be ample time for photographs.

• Monday to Friday – The fee is £160 per ceremony, and you can invite up to 10 guests. This number includes any children or babies.
• Saturday – The fee is £270 per ceremony, and you can invite up to 20 guests. This number includes any children or babies. To book this, please call us. 

How to book 

Once your application is approved by the Home Office, they will email you to let you know that you have been successful.  

When you have received your email, please contact us on 0118 974 6000 (option 3, option 3) quoting your Home Office reference number.
