1. What is the number and cost of personal injury claims to the council over the months October-February from the last five calendar years? If possible, could these be segmented by type of personal injury claim?
A total of 36 personal injury claims were submitted to the council in the months of October to February for the five years between 2019 and 2024.
The total cost of these claims (including compensation, legal fees, costs etc.) was £47,788.40. These break down as follows.
• 28 claims for slips/trips/falls: £44,788.40 paid.
• 1 claim for injury related to work by council contractor: £0 paid. (Claim redirected to the contractor.)
• 1 claim related to playground equipment: £2,500.00 paid.
• 3 claims for cycling-related incidents: £500 paid.
• 3 claims for vehicle-related incidents: £0 paid.
