1. What is Wokingham Borough Council’s Policy on ensuring disabled people secure their rights under the Equality Act 2010.
We have been advised by our Head of Insight, Strategy and Inclusion, that we do not have a specific written policy. Our approach to ensuring people with disabilities (and any of the other protected characteristics) secure their rights under the Equality Act 2010 is to carry out Equality Impact Assessments when creating a new policy, strategy or designing a service, or making a change to existing ones. In all our employee policies, we would have a section in each about our approach under the Equality Act where necessary and we would look to support reasonable adjustments in line with guidance.
