Councillor Fishwick made to statements prior to the election
1. Government grant only covers the road maintenance measured in 2012 so what was it then and now in miles so 2012??? 2023??? difference???
Statistics for road lengths maintained by local highway authorities, including values in miles, are published by the Department for Transport (DfT) at: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/road-length-statistics-rdl

The available data includes 2023. Road length information for local highway authorities in earlier years, including 2012, is available under the heading “Archived data (pre-2022)”.

2. Latest grants will only relay 0.37% of the current length how long is that in miles.
The required length may be calculated directly from the current road length available from the DfT, as described in the response to question 1.

3. I would also like the question answered why no increase since 2012 has it been replaced by an alternative and I assume the whole country is the same not just Wokingham
Wokingham Borough Highways cannot comment on central government policy with respect to highways funding. Please direct your query to the Department for Transport (DfT).
