1. How many pupil exclusion requests have been made to the local authority from primary schools in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019?
2. How many pupil exclusion requests have been made to the local authority from secondary schools in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019?
School’s notify the Local Authority of permanent exclusion decisions made by their Head Teacher. The Local Authority do not grant or decline permanent exclusions, a panel made up of Governors either uphold or quash the Head Teachers decision. T = Trust, and M = Maintained schools.
Primary School notifications:
2019/20: 1 (M)
2020/21: 0 (1 child was permanently excluded but quashed at the Governor Disciplinary Panel (GDC) and reinstated)
2021/22: 1 (T)
2022/23: 0
2023/24 YTD: 0
Secondary School notifications:
2019/20: 14. 12(T), 2 (M)
2020/21: 11. 8(T), 3(M)
2021/22: 19. 13(T), 6(M)
2022/23: 23. 18(T), 5 (M) (2 further PEX but quashed at GDC and reinstated)
2023/24 YTD: 13. 10(T), 3(M)
