1. I am looking to find the number of asylum seekers the council is currently supporting. Please provide the total number of asylum seekers per parliamentary constituency, or the postcode prefix if this is easier.
The majority of the departments that we have spoken with have advised that they would not be able to differentiate based on individuals. If they meet the criteria for support legally, then we wouldn’t necessarily capture anywhere whether an individual was an asylum seeker or not.

Support for asylum seekers are the responsibility of the Home Office and therefore they hold all direct data with regards to this community. Therefore the Home Office should be able to better answer the request.

Our Children Services do hold data as they record if children are asylum seekers or not, however it’s not complete as to break down of areas. Our current figure is at 37 young people. The four areas that were mentioned in the original request are:

Maidenhead: 1
Wokingham: 2
Reading East: 3
Bracknell: 3
