What can direct payments be used for?
Once you have been assessed, you can use a direct payment to:
- Arrange services and equipment to meet your care and support needs.
- Arrange for your care to be provided by an agency or employ someone directly.
You may not use direct debit payments for:
- Permanent residential accommodation
- Paying a spouse, partner, or close relative living in the same household for the care they provide - unless that person is specifically hired to be a live-in employee. This may differ in exceptional circumstances, which will be agreed between you and the council.
