TRO process and current consultations

Wokingham Borough Council has a map-based traffic order system showing its current restrictions. Please note this link will transfer you to a cloud platform not managed by Wokingham Borough Council.

The Traffic Regulation Order Making Process and Statutory Consultation

Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) are legal orders made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which provide the legal backing for the enforcement of road and traffic management schemes such as speed limits, vehicle restrictions and parking controls.

The Council follows legislative procedures when making TROs and publishes notices about proposed permanent, temporary and experimental schemes, generated by Wokingham Borough Council as the highway authority.

Draft Traffic Regulation Orders are published on site, in local newspapers and on this website.

For an accessible format of the following documents, please email TM.consultations@wokingham.gov.uk.

Next installations

In the coming weeks, we will be installing restrictions consulted on between 14 September and 6 October 2023.

Dates

Please view the Parking Restrictions Programme (PDF) to see when your road will be visited.

What you need to do

Where necessary, temporary waiting restrictions will be put out on the street the night before installation and additional notices will be placed in the area, as well as no parking cones.

'Postponed' notices

Painting lines is very weather dependent and can’t be done in the rain or when the ground is wet. Alternatively, it may be that there has been a delay elsewhere in the programme or a vehicle breakdown.

When there is a delay, the date for the lining work will be re-scheduled . Please view the latest programme mentioned above.

Special circumstances

If you have special circumstances that coincide with the works, such as a house move, wedding, funeral or you have a medical condition which means you are unable to walk to a vehicle parked outside of the work zone, please contact us via the general highways enquiry form and we will try to help you.

Objections

All new proposed parking restrictions require a statutory consultation period where customers are invited to comment or object. This period has now past and all objections have been assessed and a formal decision has been made by the Executive Member. You can read all comments and objections, as well as the responses to them, on the Council’s ModernGov page.

How to comment on Traffic Regulation Orders

The Traffic Regulation Order procedure includes a statutory minimum 21 day objection period.  During this time, you can send your objection, support or other comments by email to TM.Consultations@wokingham.gov.uk or by writing to:
