We have single and large scooters available for free use. They are currently available at Dinton Pastures Country Park.
Who can hire a Scooter?
Anyone who has walking difficulties, including children between 12 and 16 when accompanied by an adult.
How can I hire a Scooter?
First, contact the Countryside Service to arrange an appointment for a short scooter test and induction. You will need to bring 2 passport sized photographs and a form of identification: e.g. driving licence, passport, disability certificate.
The inductions are short, friendly and make sure the driver is confident in control of the scooter. This short test gives us the confidence that you can operate the vehicle and satifies our insurance policy.
Once you've taken the induction test, in future you can make bookings for a scooter over the phone. We will send you a membership card in the post for your future bookings reference.
Do I Need Any Special Skills?
No. The scooters are easy to drive and full instructions will be given. The following restrictions do apply
1. You must be able to walk to the scooter and not have had a fit in the past 3 years
2. There is a weight limit of 133 kilograms for the single scooter and 229 kilograms - combined weight of 2 people - for the large scooter
What Can I See and Do?
You can explore Dinton Pastures Country Park maybe stopping at the bird feeding area, enjoy a picnic, visit the bird hide or relax with an afternoons fishing. The Countryside Events programme has events running throughout the year and highlights any that are suitable for buggies. The Dragonfly Cafe is open daily.
